The Organisme d'autoréglementation du courtage immobilier du Québec (OACIQ) has strengthened its training and disclosure requirements for mortgage brokers in 2025-2026.

New Continuing Education Requirements

OACIQ-certified mortgage brokers must now complete 24 hours of continuing education per two-year period, including at least 6 hours on new federal mortgage regulations.

Enhanced Fee Disclosure

Since January 2026, brokers are required to provide clients with a detailed disclosure document specifying all sources of compensation (lender commission, file fees where applicable).

Enhanced Consumer Protection

OACIQ has strengthened its complaints handling mechanism. Unsatisfied borrowers can now file a complaint online directly at oaciq.com and receive a response within 30 days.

What This Means for You

These new rules strengthen your protection as a Quebec borrower. Always verify your broker's OACIQ license before entrusting your file to them.
